Compared to the Ethereum baselayer, Scroll has better bandwidth and lower costs because it processes transactions off-chain and signals brief proofs of correctness on-chain. Because it provides EVM equivalency, smart contracts that are compatible with EVM can be easily implemented on Scroll's network.
Several independent security audits are being conducted on Scroll's protocol, and the platform is being developed transparently and in partnership with the community. With their public zkEVM Testnet currently up and running, users can engage with dApps, set up smart contracts, and investigate L2 blocks.
